I found the chair at the local thrift store, (Value Village for all you Canadians), where they were asking a mere $10! Using a gift certificate I got from my sister for Christmas ~Jana, you know me so well~, I was able to get the chair for FREE!
The fabric was given to me by my mom, again, for FREE! She was going to use it for some curtains in her kitchen cabinets but decided to go another way and I benefited greatly from her indecision. Thanks mom!!!
I needed a little more fabric than what she had so I did have to buy a bit more... at 50% OFF! Yaya again! Plus I had to buy the buttons to cover.
A side-by-side...
So total money spent...
$35!!!
I WIN!

Oh my gosh that looks amamzing you are so talented!!!
What a great job! Is it a slipcover or did you actually re-upholster it. Either way it's really pretty.
Amazing job! I have made slipcovers before and they are sooo much work. I haven't ever tackled re-upholstering a whole chair but I might!

Ummm...are you kidding me!?! That looks amazing! So professional! I have two chairs like that that I want to refinish, but I don't know where to start. How did you learn to do this? I really want to know because I hate those chairs!! Please, please tell me where you learned to reupholster. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE your mud room!!! You always amaze me with your talent and incredible decorating skillz. I'm so mad at you for moving to Canada! I wish you still lived here so you could help me with my house :( I love you. Thanks for sharing your talents with me! I aspire to be like you :) Seriously.
What a great chair. Did I assume correctly that you recovered it yourself? This is my first visit to your blog but I hope you have a tutorial. I have two identical chairs I will be recovering as soon as I get up the courage.
Thanks for the inspiration.

What a great job. I am glad I found another talented Canadian> I am adding you to my Canadian blog roll. Too funny - my sister-in-law lives in Vanderhoof too!
very cool, I love the fabric!
Great job. I am doing a reupholstery week on my blog this week. I did redid an antique chair. That is a score for $35!
Beautiful! Love the red print fabric. I hope you can link up with my Slipcover Show-off on Saturday.
I am impressed you did such a professional job in one week. You should give lessons on slip covers or recovering as you did. The best was the different surprise fabric in the pleat. I have a chair and 6'sofa that need to be done, I just can't get up the courage to do it myself. Beautiful work!!!
Please tell us how you did this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i have an old chair i want to re-upholster, and have no idea where to start.
Your chair looks fab now!
Sarah
Great job, Karli! You are one talented young lady. Congratulations on being featured on "Better After", too.
I lived in Vanderhoof from '68 to '79,I loved it then and would love to visit again, sometime. I am in Winnipeg now.
Hugs, Cindy S
This is totally amazing! You did such a wonderful job. Any tips or tricks you could share? I picked up two great chairs from a garage sale today, and they are in desperate need of new fabric.
Your blog is totally inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing
Amy - You're so kind! Thank you! As for tips, hmmmmm. This was my first time reupholstering anything so it was kind of hit and miss. I took the fabric off the old chair and labelled each piece, using that fabric as a pattern. I cut my fabric a few inches bigger than the old stuff so I could pull it tight and then I used a LOT of staples in an electric staple gun. I put everthing back on in the order I took it off and voila! Best of luck! It was a tough job but so worth it. I love the chair now.
Karli, You did this? Amazing, stupendous, pat yourself on the back, (score!!!! on supplies) Lets see some more, its inspiring. xoxoxo Vicki
